One thing I find so fascinating about New England is all the stone walls. I wonder so much at the history, the building of them, the original purpose, repurposing of them and the original landscape that has change over the hundreds of years. This watercolor illustration captures the stone wall and invites you to wonder about them. Did you know that most of the trees weren't there when the walls were built? So all the trees in the middle of these old stone wall "fields" weren't there originally, but yet new trees keep sprouting in them, stone walls diving up the forest. Yet even before the stone walls were built New England was full of old-growth forests.
